Challenging the Misconceptions of Witchcraft

I had a conversation with friends over the weekend and I am still surprised at some of the misconceptions out there when it comes to Witches & Spell Casters!  Even as are a decade into the new Millenium, some strange ideas about Spell Casters still exist, some comical, others more serious.

The witches of fairy-tale and pantomimie are usually portrayed as old hags with discoloured skin, hooked noses, pointed chins, rotten teetch and unsightly carbuncles on their faces.  Clad of course with pointed hats and black cloats, with a black cat and lets not forget that broomstick!!.  And lets not forget Merlin, with his long cloak, long white beard, staff and his dusty cave.

Present day witches and spell casters bear no resemblance of these stereotypes.  Like most women, we are interested in our appearance, taking care of our bodies and complexions and dressing in fashionable clothes.  We do wear ceremonial robes for certain rituals but like uniforms everywhere, these confer a certain authority and confidence, serving to focus the mine on the task in hand ... and who needs a broomstick when you can use a car!!

More serious are the allegations that Witchcraft is connected with Satanism or Devil Worship, which are totally untrue.  Witchcraft has never any connectins or even any similarityes with Satanism or Devil-worshipping, and this still holds true today.

  • We do NOT worship Satan/the Devil or any other related figure
  • We believe in the power and strenght of the ancient Gods and Goddesses and in our abilities to promote and bring about goodness.
  • We believe in channelling positive and healing energies into the universe and also in taking strict measures to neutralize and counteract negative, harmful, dangerous and destructive forces.  Hence the need for the pentacle circle of protection or Invoking your Guardian Angel so that you can achieve a closer connectin with the forces of the universal good before setting out on the road of magic.
  • Our laws strictly state that we shall not cause harm to anyone - adult, child or animal - and that ALL life is sacred and muster therefore be respected.  We never use our energies to destroy, kill or harm any living creature, unlike the followers of Satan.
  • We do NOT sacrifice animals whereas Satanists do.

I hope I have imparted some knowledge to you to ensure you that the Craft of White Magic is there to bring you hope and an abundance of goodness.

Blessings ...
