Tarot Magic

I
have been reading Tarot Cards for over 15 years and can honestly say that I still find them fascinating. Not only the wisdom that transcends every culture, creed and religion, but the pleasure of being able to meditate over the direction the cards take you as you concentrate over personal challenges.  I take my work very seriously and take a personal interest in making sure my Tarot cards are used with great respect, as I believe they really are a fantastic tool to help you understand the importance of getting the balance right between the mind, body, soul and spirit. tarotspellpic_1In general the Tarot is used for divinatory purposes; that is, an attempt to understand what has gone before you and to discover what the future holds.  Being a Tarot reader and a person who has enormous respect for the Tarot I know that the person having the reading receives a kind of reassurance that prepares them for certain events that will happen and offers them insight and helpful guidance for what is yet to come, while also offering them lessons to be learnt for what has passed before them.
However, this is not the Tarot’s only use as with its rich layers of symbolism the Tarot provides the perfect focus for spell casting.  They provide an extremely potent source of magic as Tarot cards can be used as filters through which unseen spiritual forces enter the physical plane, which I am sure any Tarot reader can attest to.
Speaking for myself, I can honestly say that using the Tarot for both the purpose of readings and practicing magic, has put me on a path of spiritual development and personal growth, which helps me maintain my self-esteem and fulfil my dreams.  By using the Tarot it helps me take advantage of the powers that we all possess, as they allow me to bring about positive changes in my life and that of others.
As every reader knows, Tarot cards reveal mystical and philosophical truths through their pictures, taking you and the person receiving the reading on a journey of discovery, and for this very reason the Tarot’s psychic and psychological validity has been proven.  As a result it is becoming more and more popular for use in meditation and for other purposes such as magic for example.
New Age Philosophy teaches us that as ordinary people we can transform our daily lives and achieve our goals through magical thinking and we can find our own power and breakthrough our limitations by bringing our outer worlds into harmony with our inner selves and by phrasing our thoughts and actions into positive thinking.  In this way the Tarot has special uses for me.  When using the Tarot in magic it enables me to see both myself and others in an ageless and magical setting.
I use the Ryder Waite deck for some of my spells as I like to use the basic interpretations represented through the symbolic images in the Ryder Waite deck, the whole spectrum of spiritual realities is represented in the symbols of the major arcana and every conceivable scenario or experience is represented in the minor arcana.
When doing some spells, certain aspects of the artwork in a Tarot card take on importance, the Moon for example, is generally a card which pertains to emotions as well as the mysteries of the subconscious mind, however it can also be used in a spell to benefit animals, since there are dogs depicted in the artwork and there are no cards in the Tarot specifically designated to represent pets.  The possible meanings for some cards go on and on, but there’s a common thread of interpretation running through the Tarot and in general the symbols on the Ryder Waite cards speak for themselves in the context of the spells for which they are used.
Negative cards such as the Devil are used very seldom and used when it’s necessary to explain a particular situation, such as ridding oneself of an extremely negative or destructive person.  The way figures are posed in the cards is significant to some of my spells.  For example, in spells that seek to bring forth secrets or hidden information, the Hermit, representing discovery, is placed to the right of the High Priestess, representing secrets, so that the Hermit’s lamp is held up pointing to the High Priestess.
I use the cards that tend to be strong and positive, such as the Sun, the World, Temperance and the Star which are used over and over again in my spells as they’re just such powerful and lucky cards that I love putting them to good!
In conclusion, when casting a spell you should always abide by the “ethics of magic”, once you adhere to these rules you are simply reaching out in time and transferring something that karma has entitled you to, taking it from a future place in time and into the present day.  Therefore there is no way you can ever bring anything to yourself through magic which you are not entitled.   So when someone says “are spells guaranteed to work?” the answer is “that magic works differently for different people”.  For some, the results are almost instantaneous, for others they come more slowly; and for some, not at all, but on the whole most people can expect to get reasonably impressive results in a relatively short period of time. But if a spell does not appear to work than it could just be that there are certain things you have to go through in life and from these experiences you will learn and become much wiser as a result.
So in casting some spells the Tarot deck becomes my basic instrument and I use it to create incredible experiences for those of you who are prepared to try it!
